University and School: a partnership for teaching Mathematics

 UEPEM (University and School: a partnership for the Teaching of Mathematics) is an event that arose in 2010 from a shared work between teachers/learners of the Coordination of the Mathematics Course of the Jataí/UFG Campus and teachers/coordinators of Mathematics of the Jataí State Undersecretary of Education (SRE-Jataí) and the Jataí Municipal Secretary of Education (SME-Jataí).

The target public are teachers of Mathematics - from 6th to 9th grades, High School and EJA - from the State, Municipal and private network of Jataí and neighboring cities, as well as future teachers of this area.

Objectives

Besides solidifying and expanding partnerships in favor of a quality education, providing a space for the exchange of experiences, studies, discussions and reflections on theories and practices directed to the Teaching of Mathematics, aiming at the professional growth of those involved and the significant improvement of teaching and learning in this field of knowledge; a place where not only the university presents its studies and research, but provides a joint work where everyone can expose and reflect on the art of teaching, the knowledge and the challenges faced throughout the teaching profession, seeking then, together, to propose different ways and means to elaborate significant actions in order to promote a quality teaching and learning of Mathematics.

Execution

There are five moments, with one and one theme per month, from August to December, which include: the opening lecture; eight workshops and study/debates circles (from August to November)
organized and coordinated by teachers/researchers of the areas of Math and Mathematics Education of UFG and other institutions of higher education; students and alumni of the course of Mathematics CAJ/UFG; and teachers of Mathematics of the teaching network of Jataí.

These workshops and study circles, monthly, are divided in a class in the morning (35 vacancies) and another in the afternoon (+ 35 vacancies); at the end it ends with a round table composed by one or two teachers of the network, an academic and a professor of the university, as well as occur presentations of works of the enrolled in format oral communication and poster, besides the evaluation discussions of the event.

In 2012 the III UEPEM is scheduled to take place.
